I hadn't thought of that. Welcome to Apple Support Community. I've already looked at various forum discussions about the screens antiglare or glossy. But none of them give any real answers, so:. What's the better screen in terms of "calibration-ability"?
Is antiglare really better? Apart from the obvious "less reflection": What's the differences in terms of.. Contrast-Ratio less is often better, because it's closer to print Colours? I'm well aware that a laptop monitor isn't the same as a dedicated Eizo or NEC. I've got an Eizo for when I work from home. But "on location" be it in the glaring sunlight, or in a dark hotel room : overall - is the antiglare really the better choice?
In bright sunlight the glossy screens can be very hard to use - shame because in optimal environments images look great and the screen calibrates fine. Get the matt screen it'll serve you well under most situations. Am also looking to upgrade my 1. Am a pro photographer doing tethered corporate shoots and travel around doing architectural shoots. Need good screen, light weight and powerful. The dreeam machine. Easily said than available.
So I was curious abt retina and went to Apple showroom, was damn crowded in the macpro area! Anywhere played around with it, screen was sharp as expected, but colours seemed saturated. Weight was bearable. The reflections are less than the old glossy macbookpros but still far more than anti glare. Then i looked at the only anti glare screen on the mac in the whole showroom!
Was similar in colours to my eizo, no flections, the sample shots were a bit dark, like underexposed possibly or screen? For best colour repetition even the mac guy said was matte. Note Eizo's are mostly matte! Problem was weight of pro for travelling. Cost wasnt cheap as matte is in less demand. Mac guy said maybe matte later phased out as so low demand. So conclusion, came out empty handed leaving the apple store.
Done a fair bit of reserach, options maybe 14inch x lenovo carbon X1 matte screen, powerful and 3lbs but maybe limited to 8RAM, the more ram ideally is better especially for Photoshop work. Oh yeah i forgot drivers for Adobe PS and lightrm on Retina may not be available for a while, possibly. Dell XPS1 Samsung may come up with all the goods. I would like Price not a problem I suppose as a few jobs should pay it off. I suggest ppl wait to see what others are offering.
Sorry for long winded reply, but hopefully helpful. I went to the Apple Store today to compare matte and antiglare. Settled for the antiglare and bought a refurb 15" MacBookPro 2. Speedwise, according to Geekbench, it's the same as the current 15" 2. But it has a 1GB graphics card as a bonus. For the price difference between the refurb 2.

Okay, so both are good in their own way but which one is the right fit for you? After you read this article, you will find out for yourself. Matte Displays are non-reflective display screens because they are coated with anti-reflective materials like Magnesium Fluoride and Mesoporous Silica nanoparticles. These anti-reflective coating blocks the reflection of light and removes glare from the laptop screen by scattering all the light that falls on them.
Since light is not reflected from these displays, the glare is reduced, hence they are known as Anti-Glare Displays. Matte displays have bad color accuracy and poor color contrast, which makes the screen very dull to look at. Instead, these displays have a shiny finish to them which makes them reflect more light and have more glare. Due to this reason, they are known as Glare Displays. Glossy Displays have high-quality color contrast and the color accuracy is fantastic.
The colors on these screens look sharp, vivid and crisp. Glossy screens are present in IPS Displays. Matte display screens remove light reflections from the screen which makes them a great fit for bright light conditions and outdoor use. Light reflections from the screen makes it nearly impossible to look at the screen. You cannot concentrate on the screen due to a constant reflection of your surroundings, and you may miss important details.
The anti-reflective and light scattering coating reduces the amount of Glare caused by bright light reflections. Glare is the strain in your eyes which you feel when bright light falls on your eyes. The reduction in glare decreases the amount of strain in your eyes, reduces headaches, and helps you sit in front of the laptop for a longer period of time.
Matte screens are more common in Gaming laptops because gamers tend to sit in front of the computer for longer periods of time with high concentration. Hence a screen that reduces glare and reduces eyestrain is the perfect solution for gamers. Although Matte displays reduce glare, they do not remove it completely. Using an Anti-glare screen protector can help it reduce more. If you touch the screen of a matte display, you will find that there are fewer fingerprint marks on the screen than a glossy display.
This reduces the smudge marks caused by our fingerprints and the screen looks clean with no prints or marks. UV light and Blue light can cause a lot of damage to your eyes. There is a high risk of getting damaged retinal cells and macular degeneration if you constantly stare at your screen for a long period of time. The matte finish coating on these Display screens scatters light emerging from the screen. The color contrast is poor which makes watching movies and looking at photos unpleasant.
The screen appears dull and boring with less color accuracy. Tablet PCs use touchscreens and matte displays are not as responsive to touch as glossy displays. With matte displays, the touch is not registered properly and most often there is a lag in the input and output. The shiny finish on glossy screen displays does not scatter light emissions coming from the screen.
This means that all the colors appear bright and vivid to our eyes with no loss in brightness. The colors on a glossy screen display are more saturated and the color contrast is excellent with very high color accuracy. The high color contrast makes dark colors appear much darker and the bright colors appear much brighter.
This makes watching movies, videos and looking at photos much more enjoyable. All in all, the glossy screens are a treat to watch. Glossy Screens are the default Displays in Touchscreens. All Tablet PCs use glossy screens because they are highly responsive to touch. Also, the touch is registered perfectly most of the time. Glossy screens are shiny and reflect more light from the screen. Stack Overflow for Teams — Start collaborating and sharing organizational knowledge.

Do you two different images for the stretchableImage? And if so, is the 2x one exactly 2x larger than the other one? I also tried removing the ' 2x' images and using the regular ones just to see what happens. It didn't fix it. How did you create all of the different images? Did you use Photoshop or any other Adobe program? Did you disable color management?
Out of curiosity, why do you have to overlay the button over a UIImageView? Why can't you just retire the imageview and use the image property of the custom button? Regardless, can you share the image s with us and if you're manually setting any colors for your backgrounds, what colors are you using , as that's a lot easier to diagnose than the problem in the abstract. If there's something proprietary about the image, just redact that part if you need to.
The exported png's match if you place them next to each other so thats not the problem. Also, if you look at the 3gs image above, it works perfectly as you cannot tell where the image cuts off.
